Pierce Patchett runs Fleur-de-Lis and sell things like drugs, pornography, and sex equipment througha this service. He´s a respectable businessman.
Lynn Bracken, the Veronica Lake-type prostitute (In movie „LA Confidential“ actress Kim Basinger, above)
Sid Hudgens, top writer for Hush-Hush, the magazine that had the inside information on all the stars. Sid had private files which contained secrets on everybody who was important or famous in Hollywood. Tried to blackmail Marsalas (who produced the porn). Mertens (without drugs for calm from Marsalas) murdered SH in the Atherton style and Marsalas stole files.
Sid and Patchett being business partners. Their business was blackmail.
Raymond Dieterling was spending a large amount of money to help PE get elected for governor.

Bloody Christmas 1951. At the Central Police Station, cops beat up six suspects who are being held in jail cells, and the event affects the carees of three detectives at the LAPD.

Nite Owl Café, 1824 Cherokee Street. Six people are murdered in one of the worst crimes the city has ever seen. A place of mass murder on the morning of April 14, 1953 (?) NO was not a simple burglary that had gone wrong. There were dozens of serious crimes connected to it.

NO was about drugs and pornography. Cathcard had to go. Lunceford was part of the gang that killed Buzz Meeks. He knew who got the heroin. Get them both at the same time. Frighten Patchett

Someone brought the pornography to Patchett in the first place, but Patchett wasn´t interest. The man with the porn magazines found someone else to work with – probably Duke Cathcard.

Loren Atherton was convicted.But his secret partner in crime was Douglas Dieterling.
One of the children that LA killed was a Dieterling child star.
Patchett had financed some of Dieterling´s early work in the late 1920s. The star of Badge of Honour, Miller Stanton, was D. child star at the time of the A. case. S.Hudgens had writen about MSt. in Hush-Hush shortly before his murder. Preston Exley hadbuild Dream-a-Dreamland for Dieterling.
